Viewpoints in Krabi

Krabi is proud of its rich coral reefs and vibrant marine life – divers flock from around the world to glimpse sharks, turtles, dolphins and a myriad of tropical fish. Snorkeling, fishing and sailing are popular activities whilst the Krabi landscape is perfect for rock climbing, trekking and hiking. 

 

 


Railay Viewpoint
It's a little bit of a hike and climb but worth it. It's the beach to the south on the other side of these huge cliffs that are characteristic of Krabi and located 50 metres above the sea level, the Railay Viewpoint offers a spectacular panoramic views of Railay Beach from the east to the west. From here, you can enjoy a great scene of emerald-green sea water, waves striking the beach dotted with towering palms and coconut trees. It's not a surprise to see all tourists taking lots of photos while they are up here.

Phi Phi Viewpoints
The strenuous climb to the Phi Phi Viewpoint is a rewarding short hike. Follow the signs from the road heading east towards Ao Lo Dalam from the tourist village. The viewpoint is reached via a 300m vertical climb that includes hundreds of steep steps and narrow twisting paths. The views from the top are amazing - the marine park vistas stretch on forever in colours of aqua, emerald and jade.

Pha Samed Daeng Viewpoint
On the left o Ao Talu about 1 kilometer away taking 1 hour to walk, the route is cutting up the hill passing Pha Samed daeng Viewpoint that offers a view of Koh Ngai and Koh Lanta. In clear weather, the Trangs shoure can be seen too. After viewing the scenery, just walk across the hill ridge to Laem Thong.

1,237 Steps to the Natural Beauty, 360 Degree above Khao Kaeo Peak

Tham Sua Temple of Krabi is widely known as a peaceful Dhamma practicing venue located not far from the town. Above it is the Khao Kaeo Peak, about 200 meters high, with a stairway of 1,237 steps leading to the peak, where the replica of the Lord Buddha's footprint, the Pagoda of the Holy Relic, and a huge Buddha image are prominently located. From here the most spectacular panoramic view of the area can be obtained at 360 degree all around, from the West with creases of hills in the wide Andaman Sea, down to the far South as Krabi Town, while in the North are the lofty Phanom Bencha Mountains, and the agricultural area to the East as far as the eyes can see. This is thus the 360 degree natural beauty that you cannot afford to miss, especially on a full moon night when the sun and the moon night when the sun and the moon are seen at the same time.

How to get thereFrom Krabi Town, use Highway No.4 heading towards Nuea Khlong district and turn left, Ratphatthana Road, going for about 2 kilometers further, making a total distance of 9 kilometers.

Best time to visit: All year round, but the best period is from November to May.
Best periok of the day: At sunset around 18.30 hrs. and a sunrise about 6.00 to 7.00 hrs.

Phanom Bencha Mountain
It is 1,397 meters in height above average sea level which had thick forest on its highest peaks. At the top, you can view the beautiful landscape of Krabi town. The trail up to the view point composing with Evergreen forest covered with thick trees, if you would like to trek to the view point, contact directly with park official.

The miraculous perspective created by Nature is located at the mouth of the canal linked to the hillside canal of Karos mountains, rich in mangrove forest straddling the current winding around the cliff of the limestone mountains, making up cavities of different sizes and forms in the area. One can look out through the cavities like windows. The Karos mountains are filled with legends of prehistoric humans, with evidences as ancient color paintings at various places. One can thus imagine that the cavities once served as windows for those cavemen who once admired the beautiful views as well.
