Railay is a stunning mainland peninsula located just south of Ao Nang, yet it feels like a true island escape. Surrounded by the sea on three sides and cut off from the mainland by dramatic limestone cliffs, Railay is accessible only by boat. This unique setting gives it a peaceful, secluded atmosphere while still being close to Krabi’s main tourist areas.

Despite its small size, Railay is carefully developed. Almost all usable land has been built upon, but development remains low-rise and low-density, with accommodation designed to blend naturally into the surrounding cliffs, jungle, and beaches. West Railay is home to most of the larger resorts and offers the highest concentration of upscale and luxury accommodation. This area is known for its soft sand, calm waters, and spectacular sunsets, making it especially popular with couples and honeymooners.

East Railay (Sunrise Beach)
East Railay has the least attractive beach for swimming, but it plays an important role as the main arrival point for boats from Krabi and Ao Nang. It offers more budget-friendly hotels, guesthouses, restaurants, and climbing access points, appealing to backpackers and adventure travellers.

Phra Nang Bay
Located at the southern tip of the peninsula, Phra Nang Bay is widely regarded as the most beautiful beach in Railay. With powdery sand, crystal-clear water, and iconic limestone cliffs, it attracts both overnight guests and day-trippers from Ao Nang and Krabi. Many visitors spend their days here relaxing, swimming, and enjoying the breathtaking scenery.
